The Perch Nest is approximately 4'2" tall, at least a foot shorter than a typical bunk bed, making it a perfect first bunk that allows for goodnight kisses and a greater sense of security. While both orientations fit a double (or double) mattress, it is full of possibilities:

As a high bed with ladder, children over 6 years old can sleep in the top bunk, with a play space or mattress at floor level below, and

As a canopy bed, it is perfectly cozy and can accommodate an optional extra nest bed underneath.

Use a standard Twin size mattress not more than 6" thick (do not use a cushion).
